For the Week of Dec 15th

Starting Monday: We will begin our look at Chapter 8 sections 2 & 3. We will focus on the Louisiana Purchase and its impact on America. Special attention will be given to the Corps of Discovery headed by Lewis and Clark. We will not have a test this week, as we prepare to close out the 1st Semester.

We also have a new Timeline Entry this week. It will be due this Friday: 1803 – The Louisiana Purchase.

For the Week of Nov 24th

Monday & Tuesday – This is a short week (2 days) due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

We will use both days as an opportunity to review our last Unit. This includes chapters 1-6. Also, students who were absent last Friday (Test Day for Chapters 5 & 6) will be given a make-up test. When we return to class on Dec 1st, we will begin Chapter 7.

For the Week of Nov 17th

Monday – Starting on Monday will continue with our look at the Constitution and specifically the Bill of Rights. This will be follow with Chapter 6 section 1 of our textbook. Our main objective Monday will be the 1st Amendment.

Tues -Wed: We will focus on Chapter 6 section 2 and the Constutition. We will focus on our other guaranteed rights from the Bill of Rights, examining amendments 2 through 10.

Thurs – We will review Chapters 5 & 6.

Friday – We will have our Chapters 5 & 6 TEST.  (Schedule/Field Trips permitting).

For the Week of Nov 3rd

Monday & Tuesday: We will continue with our examination of the creation of our current Constitution. This will follow with Chapter 5 sections 3 & 4.

Wednesday & Thursday: We will proceed on to Chapter 6 section 1. This chapter will give us an in depth look at the Constitution and our rights & responsibilites as citizens. *We will not have a separate Chapter 5 test. Chapter 5 & 6 will be combined into one test unit.

Friday: We will be on our class field trip.

For the Week of Oct 27th

Monday & Tuesday: We will begin discussing the aftermath of the American Revolution and our nation’s first constitution the Articles of Confederation (major weaknesses).This will follow with Chapter 5 section 1 of our textbook. *We will also review the results of our Chapter 4 test and review the “Most Missed” questions.

Wednesday – Friday: We will discuss the origins and Ratification of our current Constitution. This will follow with Chapter 5 sections 2 thru 4.

For the Week of Oct 20th

Monday & Tuesday – We will examine the end of the American Revolution, how the Americans won, and the effects of the Treaty of Paris 1783. This will be based on Chapter 4 section 4 of the textbook. *Picture Timelines 6 & 7 will be checked Monday.

Wed – Fri – We will review the American Revolution using a student made newspaper project (in class project) based on the key events of the American Revolution. The Chapter 4 Test will be given either Friday or next Monday – exact test date will be determined later in the week. We will also have a new Picture Timeline assignment this week.

For the Week of Oct 15th

This will be a short week following our Fall Break.

Starting Wednesday – We will take a close look at The Declaration of Independence. Examining key parts and principles of this important document. This will be based from Chapter 4 section 2 of the textbook.

Thurs & Friday: We will examine the Key battles of the American Revolution and discuss the “turning point” of the war. This will be based from Chatper 4 section 3 of the textbook.

*We have 3 picture timelines due this week.  1. 1773 – The Boston Tea Party    2. 1775 – The American Revolution Starts (”The shot heard round the world”).    3. 1776 – The Declaration of Independence.

For the Week of Oct 6th

Monday – We will close out Chapter 3 with our Ch3 sections 4 & 5 TEST.

Tuesday- Friday – We will begin our look at The American Revolution. This will be connected with Chapter 4 of our textbook.

Tues- The focus will be section 1 & a look at the how the Revolution begins.

Wed & Thurs- The focus will be on section 2 and The Declaration of Independence.

Fri- We will review the entire Unit: Chapters 1-4 before our Fall Break.

For the Week of Sept 22nd

Monday & Tuesday – We will look at the story of the Pilgrims and the Puritans (And the development of the New England Colonies). This will align with Chapter 3 section  2 of the textbook.

Wednesday – We will go into detail on the Middle Colonies – see Chapter 3 section 3

Thursday – We will do an overview of the 13 English Colonies.

Friday – We will take a TEST over Chapter 3 but only sections 1-3 of Chapter 3.

*I will assign our 3 Picture Timeline Entry this week. See the Homework/Project Page for details.

For the Week of Sept 15th

Monday – Wednesday – We will examine the early English attempts at settlement in North America: Roanoke, Jamestown, & Plymouth. This correlates with Chapter 3 section 1 of the textbook. *I will also assign our 2nd Picture Timeline Entry – See Homework/Project page for details.

Thursday – Friday – We will begin a breakdown look at the 13 colonies by regional group (Southern, Middle, New England Colonies). This correlates with Chapter 3 sections 1-3 of the textbook. This topic will carry over into next week.
