Our Class Week of April 28th

For this week we start our look at the Reconstruction period of history. This will be the focus of chapter 18 of the textbook. Monday will be our team field trip, so there will be no classes. Tuesday we will begin with Chapter 18 section 1 and continue with a new section each day of the week.

Our Class Week of April 21st

This week we say goodbye to TCAP and return to normal classes. We will pick up Monday with our unit on the Civil War. Monday we will begin with Chapter 17 section 3 of the textbook. Tuesday is Library day, so we will have a brief review of section 3. Wednesday and Thursday we will proceed with the final sections of Chapter 17, 4 & 5. We will plan on having the Chapter 17 Test this Friday.

For the Week of April 14th

This week will see us in the wonderful world known as TCAP. We will be testing all week. Students will have short general review lessons when they are in class. There will be no regular homework, quiz, or test assignments this week. We want the students to relax and do their best for TCAP.

Our Class Week of April 7th

For this week, we will focus on the TCAP test. We will be reviewing a chapter a day each day of this week. We have already reviewed chapters 1-7 the past two weeks. This week we will start with chapter 8 on Monday and then chapter 9 tuesday, and so forth. We will also have our TCAP Vocabulary Quiz this Friday. Students have the list of words to study. We will also discuss test taking tips and strategies throughout this week.

Our Class Week of March 3rd

For this week, we will continue with Chapter 16. Starting on Monday, we will pick up with section 3 of the book: “The Crisis Deepens” with a special focus on the Dred Scott Case. Tuesday and Wednesday’s focus will be on “The Emergence of the Republican Party and John Brown” this is based on section 4 of the textbook.  Thursday and Friday our focus will be on section 5 of the textbook and the topic of “The Civil War Begins.”  Our latest timeline entry is listed under the Homework/Project page. There will be a TCAP Vocabulary quiz this Friday.

Our Class Week of Feb 11th

For this week, we will continue with Chapter 14. Starting on Monday, we will pick up with section 3 of the book: “The Cotton Kingdom of the South.” Tuesday and Wednesday’s focus will be on “Life in the South.” We will also incorporate the impact of new inventions and immigration with this unit.  Thursday and Friday will be used for review. Our Class Week of Jan 28th

For this week, we will finish up the last section of chapter 13 on Monday and start reviewing for the test. The test is schedule for this Thursday, the 31st. The test will cover chapters 12 & 13. Tuesday, is our library day. This means there will only be a brief review for the test on Tuesday. We will continue reviewing for the test on Wednesday and take the test on Thursday. Friday we will do an introductory lesson on chapter 14, with a focus on the new inventions of the 1800s. Students should also be prepared for a notebook/timeline check this Tuesday.

Our Class Week of Jan 22nd

For this week we will continue to work out of Chapter 13 of the textbook. The focus of Chapter 13 is the Opening of the West and Manifest Destiny. This Tuesday we will start off with section 2 of the text and a look at Texas Independence. We will continue on throughout this week with sections 3 and 4 (The Gold Rush). The test for this chapter will be planned for next week. I’ll give an exact date out on Monday the 28th. There will be a new Timeline Entry this week #16. We will also have a timeline entry notebook check this week, for entries 13, 14, & 15. See the Homework/Project page for details.

Our Class Week of Jan 14th

We will be working in Chapter 12 of our textbook. The focus of this chapter is the Age of Jackson. All three sections look at the impact this Tennessean’s presidency had on the U.S. There will not be a separate Chapter 12 Test. This short chapter will be combined with Chapter 13 for our next test. We will do a review close out of this chapter on Wed, then continue on with Chapter 13 sections 1 & 2 for Thursday and Friday. We will also have a new Timeline Entry this week. Welcome Back and Happy New Year 08! For the Week of 7 Jan:

For this week, we will continue with Chapter 11 of the textbook.

The focus of this chapter will center on The Industrial Revolution and its wide ranging impact on American (World) History. For Monday and Tuesday of this week we will start a review for Chapter 11. Students should expect the Chapter 11 Test on Wednesday. For Thursday and Friday we will start an introduction of Chapter 12 and begin work on section 1, “The Age of Jackson.” Students should continue working on their past assigned timeline entries.
