This week we will be working out of Chapter 3 (Exploration and Colonization) of the textbook. Our focus will be on the first 3 sections of the chapter. Class topics will include:

From Section 1: An Era of Exploration (Voyages of Christopher Columbus)

From Section 2: Spain Builds an Empire (Conquistadors and the New World)

From Section 3: Colonizing North America (Protestant Reformation, England & France begin to explore the New World)

From Section 2: Native American Cultures

From Section 3: Early Trade Networks of Africa and Asia

From Section 4: Tradition and Change in Europe (Greek & Roman Governments, Middle Ages, and the Renaissance)

Also, we will have our first project assignment . It will be a “mini-biography” on a European explorer. I will post details inside the “Project News” page.
