For the Week of March 9th

Monday – Friday: All this week we will be involved with our TCAP review. We will continue on with Chapter 13 of the textbook and a look at the antebellum South. However, our pace will be slow as we put our primary focus on a review of the first 12 chapters of the textbook. There will be no test this week or new timeline pictures assigned. The 3rd nine weeks also ends this week, prior to the start of Spring Break.

For the Week of March 2nd

Monday – We will begin our look at life in the South. This will relate to Chapter 13 of the textbook. Also, this week we will begin our TCAP review. This will continue everyday until the TCAP Exam in April. This means that our progress through the textbook will slow for the next several weeks.

Tuesday – This will be a Library Day *Picture Timeline Due Today: “1832 – Samuel Morse Invents the Telegraph”

Wednesday – Friday – We will progress through Chapter 13 and our look at Southern Society. We will also take daily TCAP Vocabulary quizzes and review material from Chapters 1 & 2.

For the Week of Feb 23rd

Monday & Tuesday – We will finish up with Chapter 12. Monday the focus will be on section 4 and a look at the new inventions of the 1800s. Tuesday will primarily be a review day and we will have our Chapter 12 test Wednesday. *A new picture timeline will be issued “1832 – Samuel Morse Invents the Telegraph.”

Wednesday – This will be test day over Chapter 12 and the Industrial Revolution.

Thursday – We will start our next Chapter, 13. This will be a look at the South pre Civil War. The primary focus will be on the Cotton Industry.

Friday – We will move on to Chapter 13 section 2 and examine life in the Antebellum South. *Also, we will begin a formal TCAP review this week. This integrated review will continue until the TCAP test is taken in April. As a result, our progress through the textbook will slow as we review all of our main objectives of the year.

For the Week of Feb 18th

This will be a short 3 day week for the students.

Wed – We will finish up Chapter 12 section 2 looking at working lifes in the factories of the Industrial Revolution.

Thurs & Fri – We will examine the Transportation Revolution brought about by the Industrial Revolution. This corresponds with Chapter 12 section 3 of the textbook. We will also review back over sections 1 & 2 before finishing the week. No Test or Timelines due this week.

For the Week of Feb 9th

Monday & Tuesday – We will finish Chapter 11. We will review both days and take the Chapter 11 Test on Tuesday.

Wed & Thur – We will begin to examine the Industrial Revolution and its impact on American life. This will correspond with Chapter 12 sections 1 & 2 of the textbook. *Picture Timelines due on Thursday. (1848 – Gold Discovered in California).

Friday – We will review Chapter 12 sections 1 & 2 and start examine the “transportation revolution” in America. This will correspond with Chapter 12 section 3 of the textbook.

For the Week of Feb 2nd

Monday – Due to our snow day last week, We will carry over last Friday’s activities by examining the Texas Revolution and the creation of the “Lone Star Republic.” This corresponds with Chapter 11 section 2 of the textbook.

Tuesday & Wednesday – We will look at the Mexican War. We will examine the causes of the war and its impact on American History. This corresponds with Chapter 11 section 3 of the textbook.

Thursday & Friday – We will explore the continuing growth of the American West into the 1850s brought about by the California Gold Rush. This will correspond with Chapter 11 section 4 of the textbook. *We will also have a new Picture Timeline assignment: 1848 – Gold Is Discovered In California.

For the Week of Jan 26th

Monday – We will review Chapters 9 & 10 and prepare for our Test on Tuesday.

Tuesday – We will take our Chapters 9 & 10 Test.

Wednesday & Thursday – We will begin to look at the settlement of the West and the creation of the famous Western trails (Oregon, Santa Fe, California, Pony Express, etc….). This corresponds with Chapter 11 section 1 of our textbook. *Thursday our lastest timeline is due: 1830 The Trail of Tears.

Friday – We will examine the Texas Revolution and the creation of the “Lone Star Republic.” This corresponds with Chapter 11 section 2 of the textbook.

For the Week of Jan 12th

Monday – We will have our Chapter 8 Test on the Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812. This test was originally scheduled for last Friday.

Tues & Wed – Starting Tuesday we will begin our look at Chapter 9 “A New National Identity.” This will correspond with sections 1 & 2 of the textbook. *Also, Wednesday our Timeline Picture “The War of 1812″ will be due.

Thurs – We complete section 3 of Chapter 9 and then review Chapter 9. We will not have a separate Chapter 9 test. Chapter 9 material will be combined with Chapter 10.

Friday – We will start Chapter 10 “The Age of Jackson.”

For the Week of Jan 5th

Monday: We will do a quick review of the Louisiana Purchase & The Lewis & Clark Expedition. We will start an introduction of Chapter 8 section 3 of our textbook. This topic will be “The Coming of War.” Our concern will be with issues surrounding the causes of the War of 1812 with Great Britain.

Tues – Friday: We will complete Chapter 8 section 4 of the textbook. The focus will be the War of 1812. We will do a detail examination of the causes and effects of the War of 1812. We will have our Test on Chapter 8 Friday. Also, we will have a new Timeline entry issued this week: 1812 – “The War of 1812 Begins”
